Welcome to Quirky Crafts Challenges

Welcome to Quirky Crafts Challenges the place where any craft project is allowed.

We're a small design team with big inspiration.

On the first Sunday of the month, at 6pm UK time, we will set a new challenge which will close on the 28th of that month at midday. The DT will pick their top three favourites and you could win a prize and join us as a Guest Designer. Winners are posted on the first Sunday in the month (midday usually) before the new challenge - don't forget to come and check if you are a winner.

Challenge #22, Quirky Charades (is it a book, Film or Song?)

Hello everyone!!  It´s me (Doris) inviting you to our new Challenge Quirky Charades, is it a book, Film or Song. Remember the party game? Just tell us which book, film or song your project is based on and thats it . Easy, don´t you think? Now, to see who won the last challenge click HERE or scroll down to the next post, and let me introduce you our Sponsors and Prizes.

 Our Sponsor and Prizes
First Place will receive 6 images from Paper Pretties

Second Place will receive 3 images from  Limited Runs

Third Place will receive 1 image from Robin´s Fetish

What do you prefer: a book, a film or a song? Let´s get play together!!

And for some inspiration, next you can find some great ideas from our Guest Designers and of course from our DT.

Little Drummer Boy ( song, and Drummer Boy is the name of the image from Paper Pretties as well), coloured with Graph It Markers, cut out and adhered to card using silicone glue, papers used for the bottom of the card gold metallic with gold embossed stars, Kanban patterned card stock, Aperture cut with oval Spellbinders Scalloped die, Added gold stars and sentiment.

In my house there are many movies and one of my favorites is "Fried Green Tomatoes" I recommend!! I used the stamp "Flower Mug" of Limited Runs.

My daughter loves the movie "Devil wears Prada" It´s a great movie!! And the stamp is from the sponsor Paper Pretties and is called "1960"

Unfortunately Christine is in hospital, but we hope to add her project later, and we all wish her a speedy recovery.

My first card is a song - Welcome Home by Peter's and Lee, and I have been singing it all afternoon. I used Welcome from Paper Pretties with a sentiment that is one of several with the image, and perfect for my song!

My second card might be a little late, I have to go hospital visiting and will probably not have time to finish and load it up - so check back later.

Monday - a little later than planned, but I wanted to get this right and it was very late when I finished it last night. This is about Pretty Woman, which is a film and a song, but I don't think it was ever a book. Wouldn't it be great if you can find something that covers all three! The image is from Limited Runs and is called Molly and you can find her on the Girls page of Limited Runs. Details are on my blog.

For my first project I used the lovely "Flutterby" provided by our sponsor Paper Pretties. This card is inspired in one of my favorites songs:  Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler.
This card represents the freedom of an eagle flying high up in the sky.

For my second project I got my inspiration from a pretty sad kids story "The Little Match Girl" by Hans Christian Andersen.
For this project I used "Sitting Pretty" digi provided by our sponsor Limited Runs.

Both projects were colored with a mix on Spectrum Noir pens and Prismacolor pencils.

Hi everyone! For my project I used this cute digi Stamp  Winter Fairy,  provided by our sponsor, Limited Runs Stamps. This card is inpired in one of my favorite story, A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens.
This beautiful girl remember me, the Ghosts of Christmases Past, I love this story, because I love Christmas. My project is colored with acuarelables pencils.
Will be late, is stuck in the middle of nowhere dog sitting of course! Lyn said "I have gone to the dogs".
I'm here!! I'm out of the 'dog house!' Wednesday night....better late than never!
Here's my card. I've used this cute little Santa from Limited Runs. He was coloured on the compter, (with a tiny dash of Pastle blue Promarker added afterwards. I've printed him on to my own snowy paper, then fixed him over Pink Petticoat Snowflakes paper and some embossed silver card. The Sentiment diecuts are from Crafts Creations. I've added  some Stickles Glitter to his hat and coat. I've also added an die-cut snowflake corner, white sparkly eye-lash wool and the tiny snowflakes he's holding were punched out from the waste of the sentiment diecuts. And my song?? "Let it Snow! Let It Snow! Let it Snow!" of course.

For my frist project I made a card using the Heavenly Angel from the  Fairies and Angels set.  It is provided by our sponsor Limited Runs . I inspired me by the the Angel song from Sarah McLachlan. I worked the image with Spectrum Noir Markers and I added some embellishments too. Here is the link, just in case: Angel.

My second project is based on The Lion King movie, which is one of my little one favorites movie. We are always singing and dancing with this song. The image Leonardo Lion from Paper Pretties. In this case what I did was print and cut in a different papers and I used Distress Ink and Spectrum Noir for the details. And this is the link: The Lion Sleeps Tonight !!!

  4. I am struggling trying to get my card entered... first it says it is back linked [it is not] then it shows there is a link error... I wonder if that is why there are so few entered so far???
On the magnificent side... some seriously creative folks on the DT! I love the folds, colors and creative ideas! I especially love the piece Monica made for Wind Beneath My Wings!

    1. Hi Ginny, you needed to add a link to the Quirky blog or challenge post into your post before attempting to link it up, then you needed to link your actual post not your blog. We did have a few teething problems with this feature but I think it is fixed now, and we are happy that we have several entries and there is still a week to go. Nobody else has reported a problem, and they were before we got it sorted. The reason for using it is so that we don't have to check that every entry has a link to Quirky Crafts challenges, and in the past we had to eliminate entries that didn't, and when we have a very popular challenge like Christmas it is a real task to check.

Your card was there in the moderation queue, and I have approved it now.

Thank you for playing Charades with us, and for your comment and feedback, and good luck.

  5. Cute cards and projects. Thank you for the challenge.

  6. You have a post today reminding us about the current challenge but the Linky is closed. :-( Not sure if the challenge is over and I'm misunderstanding....but I though I'd link my card anyways. You can see it here.

    1. Hi Jan, sorry about that, I must have forgotten to change it when I created the link up, I have changed it now.
Thanks for telling us, I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't.

      Cazzy x
