Welcome to Quirky Crafts Challenges

Welcome to Quirky Crafts Challenges the place where any craft project is allowed.

We're a small design team with big inspiration.

On the first Sunday of the month, at 6pm UK time, we will set a new challenge which will close on the 28th of that month at midday. The DT will pick their top three favourites and you could win a prize and join us as a Guest Designer. Winners are posted on the first Sunday in the month (midday usually) before the new challenge - don't forget to come and check if you are a winner.

Challenge 20# In the jungle, the mighty jungle - a whimaway....

Hi everyone, Cazzy here, and it is time for another little bit of quirkyness. I can't get that tune out of my head (The Lion Sleeps Tonight), so the challenge this week is In The Jungle, and is sponsored by the lovely Digital Delights by Louby Loo who provided some great jungle images to the team to use. Of course there are more in this range and lots of new images in several ranges too.

Your project (and it can be any crafty project, ATCs, scrapbook layouts, altered art, cards, boxes - whatever you can do) must include jungle images. Does your lion sleep tonight?
The Design Team chosen winner will win 3 images of their choice from Digital Delights. Both the DT winner and the Public voted winner will be invited to join the Design Team as guests and will be able to proudly display the winner's badge on their blogs.

So without further ado here are the Design Team examples to inspire you:

First of all Guest Designer Gemma, who used the very cute Dillon the Lion image to make her lovely jungle birthday card.
Our second Guest Designer Tracy J made a fabulous fun side step card and used Dillon the Lion, Mickey the Monkey, the coconut tree from the accessory pack and Wild Thing sentiment all available from our sponsor.

Caro decided to make a scrapbook layout of her son Alex playing in his Grandparents garden...Alex likes to pretend he is in the jungle as their garden is so big, so Caro used Dillon the Lion, Mickey the Monkey and Timmy the Tiger on her layout, all coloured in with promarkers.

Diane was quite inspired by the last challenge still (anything but a card). So instead of making the usual card decided to make a door sign for a nephews bedroom door. Using the Timmy tiger digistamp and also the palm tree digistamp, they were enlarged and then turned into a paper piecing.
Lyn (Spyder)
I've used Dillon the Lion too. I've decoupaged him, printing out and colouring four Dillons and layered him onto animal papers from our sponsors as well as some freebies I found.

Cazzy will be along later!

Please click on the big blue frog at the top of the collection below - it is just below our signature - (not the small froggy at the bottom - that doesn't do anything) to enter. Please add the link to your blog post with your entry, not just your blog, and please come back and vote for your favourites on Friday 7th October after 6pm, or Saturday 8th October before 5pm UK time.

Quirky Crafts 2011: Challenge 8 - Sparkly, Punchy Easter and/or Spring

Welcome to Challenge 8 here at Quirky Crafts which is sponsored by the lovely Digital Delights.
Digital Delights are creators of some gorgeous digital stamps. The winner of the Design Team vote will be able to chose 3 digital images of their own choice from this fabulous collection. The DT were given the opportunity to work with some of these images and they are lovely.

Challenge 8 was set by me, Caro, and as I am sat here looking out of the window at Spring flowers in the garden, with blossom on some of the trees and Easter is just round the corner the challenge is...
An Easter or Spring creation which must include something sparkly (gems, glitter etc) and use at least one punch.

Rules for entering our challenges are in the side bar and we reserve the right to remove any links that don't follow the rules, although we will tell you so you can enter something else. Don't forget, we love to see all your cards but we also accept anything crafty as long as it fits into the current challenge. That includes ATC's, Altered Art, Fat Pages, Scrap Book Pages, Magic boxes, Tags, Book Marks, in fact anything crafty you can think of! Just a reminder that our challenges go live on Sunday evening and close on the next Friday but one, so this challenge is open until Friday 22nd April (Good Friday). Please pop back then to vote for your favourite cards. Voting remains open until the end of Saturday. Have fun and we look forward to seeing your Sparkly, Punchy Easter or Spring creations.

Here are a few creations by our Design Team to give you inspiration

First Guest Designer Alethea used the Easter Dumpling image and Easter Sentiment from our sponsor, this is so cute.

Second Guest Designer Jacqui, who made this very pretty card at very short notice also used Easter Dumpling and Easter Scroll.

Third Guest Designer Leanne also chose Easter Dumpling and Easter Scroll, but used a totally different technique for her egg shaped card, and you can read about on her blog.

Diane has made a chocolate bar wrap using
Barnaby Bunny

Lyn has also used Barnaby Bunny and Happy Easter Scroll from our sponsor,
with freebie papers.
(links on Spyder's Corner)

Caro decided to make an origami basket and decorate with the Eggstra Special Bunny, sparkly flowers, and a punched glittery handle.
A close up of one side of the basket...

Cazzy used Barnaby Bunny and Easter scroll for this sparkly card.
Cazzy also used Barnaby Cruising to make a second card.

Quirky Crafts 2011 - challenge 2: In the Spring Garden (must have: pink, green, stamped or digi image)

Challenge time again, and first of all I would like to thank all the people who entered the last challenge, it was difficult to get round everyone to comment and there were some great entries.

The Winners of Challenge 1 - New Beginnings are:

Public Vote: Jennifer Greco

DT Vote: There were so many gorgeous entries that we couldn't decide on just one so chose:
1. Amelia's gorgeous wedding card, 2. Jenni with her cute toadstool new house card and
3. Desiree's gorgeous scrapbook page. An honorable mention has to go to Irit for both of her amazing papercraft creations; the cutest mini book ever and a wonderful diaper cake!

Please email us (using the link in the sidebar), if any of you would like to join us as a guest in the next challenge, and do help yourself to a winner's badge to display on your blog with pride.

I would also like to apologise if you expressed an interest in joining the DT, we haven't had time to sort out lists and pick someone yet, though we have a pool of great GDTs to draw on. I am trying to organise all my emails and should be able to find you all and add you to a list soon, then we will announce who will be joining us on the main DT.

We have some very exciting news: this year we already have three great new sponsors, and I would like to introduce the first sponsor and they are sponsoring our challenge today: Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps.

Love Blooms Paper Pack (used on all except Caro's) and Floral Fantasy (used by Spyder - Lyn) both Floppy Latte Designs

Camelia Watering Can and Dahlia (used by Caro, Diane and Claire) from the Blackberry Lane Range.

and Bumblebrella and Butterfly love both from the Stitchy range (used by Cazzy and Claire)

Challenge #2 of 2011.

The challenge was picked by me, Cazzy, and is...
In the Spring Garden And To Use Pink and Green!.
I think we have had enough of the snow and Winter weather, so let's look forward to Spring and cheer ourselves up!

You must include a stamped or digi image of something you would find in the garden (flowers, bees, butterflies, insects, pots, any garden themed stamp or digi), and include the colours pink and green in your creations. As usual any craft project can be entered.

Your blog post must mention that you have entered the challenge and a link back to this blog and you should leave us a comment after you have linked your entry.

Now we don't want to be horrible, especially as you have made the effort to enter, but if your entry doesn't meet the conditions of the challenge we reserve the right to delete it from Inlinkz, but we will tell you so you can enter another project that does fit.

One overall winner will win a voucher from Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps so you can choose something from the great range of images and papers when you are ready to purchase.

Here are some lovely examples by the Design Team all using digi images from our sponsor, and there to inspire you. The papers used are a digi Paper Pack from Stitchy called Love Blooms which is the January Collab offer that comes free with any purchase from Stitchy over $10 in value.
