Reminder!! Challenge #17: Quirky Christmas In August!

Hi Quirky Peoples! It's Lyn, back again with a quick reminder about...
 Quirky's Christmas In August Challenge
(with a bit of a Quirky Twist!!)
I want you to use 3 triangles from the wheel below. So, you could choose from the cheesy triangles, to make a shaker card, using 'not traditional colours', with a Bugaboo image! Or make your own papers, use triangles, and add a charm...So come and join in. You might win some lovely prizes from our fabulous sponsors!... Bugaboo! and Crafty Ribbons!
You still have a week left! So why not nip HERE to download Bugaboo's latest freebie and then go and turn it into a Quirky Christmas card, and come back and link up HERE!
Here's another card from me...

I've made this Christmas card using  a Bugaboo image, Sign-it/Christmas/Edward, used non-traditional colours, (The ribbon is purple, although it looks blue) and the digi is already a 'scene'. I've added embossed triangle peel-offs to some of the corners. I've also 3D-ed the elephant, chick and balloons. The typing on the 'list' was done on the computer. All the papers inside and out are by Pink Petticoat. I've also added gems and loads of Stickles Glitter!
I added one more card on Monday 26th August...not many days to Christmas now!!

This card also uses a Bugaboo Image: Knobby Knees Christmas sack who I've printed out twice and then stuck over each other.. The backing paper colours are Bluebell and Blue Berry. (Pink Petticoat) Non-traditional. There's triangles (peel-offs and shapes) and a Christmas charm!
Here's a few more creations from ....

This time I made a card using a Bugaboo Stamps image, I chose non-traditional colors and add a Crhistmas Charm. I painted with watercolor  pencil, giving prominence to the blue color and the charm that I used is frosty blue to contrast with the color of the glitter that has the cardboard base.

My second project is also a card. In this, of course I use a Bugaboo Stamp image a charm, a mixture of traditional and non-traditional colors, but I also included a component that helped me form a triangle is in the upper left (the corner of bingo ). After that, I painted and crop the image so that the corner of the bag of gifts also form a triangle. As an additional elements, I embossed one of the pieces and I used a lace.

Here I am, family all asleep, gone home, or watching TV. I decided to make a triangle card, with triangle layers, and for someone as geometrically challenged as me this was not an easy task! Anyway I got there I think! Bugaboo image, triangles and layers and if that isn't enough the colours are pretty whacky too!
The image is called penguin star (bother just realised I meant to add some glitter - but it wouldn't have dried in time) and it is coloured with Promarkers.
Back of triangle card, see what I mean?

That's it for now....more creations will be added later, so pop back again soon!

Challenge #17: Wishing You A Very Quirky Christmas In August! (with a twist)

Evening Quirky people! It's time for another new Quirky challenge and it's my turn Lyn aka Spyder, to set the theme. For the winners of Doris's fabulous BBQ/Picnic challenge, please scroll down to the post below or click HERE!! Our New Challenge is sponsored by the one and only ...
Bugaboo Digital Stamps!
 and
 Crafty Ribbons!
 so I have chosen....
Christmas In August with a Quirky Twist...
What's the twist Lyn??  Well, that's really up to you! I made this wheelie good cheesy looking 'wheel' to chose at least 3 things (more if you like) to add to your Christmas Cards or any Christmas crafty creation you'd like to make, in other words, you can add what you like plus at least three things from the wheel, okay!? We want to see Quirky... So, you might choose to make your own backing papers in pink and blue (non-traditional) and layer it all up in triangles! Or, make a Triangle layered tag/card with a Bugaboo image and a little Christmas Charm! Make it QUIRKY!!

Here's what our fabulous Guest Designers came up with!

I used a Bugaboo stamp, created my own background paper (or created a scene) and added a Christmas charm.

Wow that was quite the challenge!  I was really struggling to come up with an idea until something came to me while laying in bed this week...lol :) So here is my card!  The options I used are: Triangle Shapes, Bugaboo Image, Non Traditional Colours. Thank you so much for letting me be a guest designer
It was a pleasure Cazro and Emily! Thank you for joining us! And now for the rest of the Team.....

Ho Ho Ho, great minds think alike, I didn't copy Lyn, I didn't check which image she was using either and we both used Little Penguin Winter/winter bench!  I used a Bugaboo image, made my own background and have layers, and a non tranditional colour scheme, so that is four cheesey triangles!
My second card is made using Bugaboo images, Little Penguin Winter - Decorate Tree  and Christmas Words - Believe, and non traditional colours and two of everything. Two images, two fancy die cuts, two purple rectangles, two papers, two ribbons from a Crafty Ribbons collection, and 2 x 3 green flat back pearls! Phew.

On this occasion, I made a decorative frame for which I used the Scene It - Ornament Brats image from our wonderful  sponsor Bugaboo Digital Stamps Stamps. I chose to worked non-traditional colors, make a scene and of course a Bugaboo Digital Stamp. I worked with watercolor pencil and glitters.

Daire
is in the middle of moving house, and might be along later if she can find her stash!

I've used these two bench buddies too, so cute!! Little Penguin Winter/winter bench They've been 3D-ed, where I first left out the Christmas tree and curly bits and then some of the bench was cut away and lastly I added the penguins, cutting off their flippers and one of their feet! (I'm sooo cruel!) I've added silver glitter, glittery white flower-soft, stickles, gems, pearls, sparkly twisted cord, tiny bits of lace as well as tiny holly leaves. From the cheesy triangles I've used, a Bugaboo Image, which is already a scene, triangle layers and non-traditional colours. I'll add more very soon!!

That's it! That's what we've created. Hope our little inspirations help you to join in with our
Christmas in August  (with a twist) Challenge! Can't wait to see your masterpieces!!

Reminder!! Challenge # 16 Great Picnic / BBQ

Hello Quirky People, Doris again to remind our current challenge Great Picnic/BBQ. I want to tell you even have time to participate and show your talent. I also want to remind you about our fabulous prizes and generous sponsor.

They are giving us the following prizes

For the First Place
$20 Crackerbox Voucher

For the Second Place
$15 Crackerbox Voucher

For the Third Place
$10 Crackerbox Voucher

And now, a little more inspiration time from our team.

Doris

My first project is an Easel Card, taken from an SVG file. For this card I used several images, all of our sponsor Crackerbox Palace, and painted it with watercolor pencil. Then, I tried to give a three dimensional appearance. When the card is closed, all the images will retain their original appearance.

Here are some tags ideas, decorated with small ants and flowers. Images provided by our generous sponsor Crackerbox Palace. These are ideas that can help us, when we are invited to an activity and we have to bring a bottle of wine or something similar.
Here's my card."Is that all you've done Lyn?!" I can here someone say! Well, no... I'll add the inside as soon as my batteries are charged up!! I've used Pink Petticoat papers, the freebie gingham I linked last week. The flowers, ant and sentiment, in fact all the images are from our sponsors! Now that I've added the 'pop out' inside you can see more little ants, pies, melons, a BBQ, as well as a picnic table! It should all fold up, so it fits (tightly!) into it's envelope!

I decided to make the jolly ants into a gatefold card this time, and I remembered I had some gingham paper for the inside.
This involved a whole load of paper peicing and decoupage, I will be cross if I find my Promarkers would have coloured the green card. Well paper peicing with coloured images is better I think anyway!
Here I am with a very late addition, I made the table into the card! Not an ant in sight on this one.
The table continues on the back of the card, so open from the back you get the whole table.

Inside I kept mainly white and black, so a greeting can be written. Sentiments by me!

Please link your project up HERE, alternatively scroll down to the previous post.

Challenge # 16 Great Picnic / BBQ

Psssstt, are you looking for the last Challenge winners? If so, please click here or scroll down.
It's time for new Quirky Challenge, and this time it falls to me (Doris) make your imagination is translated into beautiful projects. The theme is Picnic / BBQ, you can choose one of the two suggestions and mix it or just choose a single topic. You must remember and use some of the elements that usually surround these activities, such as grill, tables for camping, picnic baskets, checkered tablecloths, ants (never fail). Let your imagination run wild. Our fabulous and generous sponsor for this challenge:

They are giving us the following prices

For the First Place
$20 Crackerbox Voucher

For the Second Place
$15 Crackerbox Voucher

For the Third Place
$10 Crackerbox Voucher

And, now the inspiration time.  Look at these amazing creations from our Guest Designers and Design Team for some ideas:

Guest Designer Janet

 Guest Designer Tracey

My first project is a picnic basket. It is decorated with images painted in watercolor pencil. Ants, watermelon and flowers, all provided by our fabulous sponsor Crackerbox Palace

My second project is a Center Step Card. In this, I used, ants+melon_1.jpg, 4306+3+ants_1.jpg, picnic+table_1.jpg, grill_1.jpg, life+a+picnic_1.jpg. All provided for our sponsor Crackerbox Palace. Additional I used for Mr. Cook, a cutting file, and some grasses. I invite you to visit my blog, so you can find more images of these projects.

Here's mine! I made an easle card with 'table attachment' and went with a green table cloth in gingham, added sentiments, melons, baskets, ants and flowers from our sponsor  Crackerbox Palace. The melon papers are from PinkPetticoat.
  I coloured everything using Promarkers.

The knives, spoons and folks are Woodware brads.
(And no ants were harmed in the making of this card!)

For my first art journal page I used a 'spontaneous background' created when cleaning of my brushes and stamps. The Watermelon from Crackerbox Palace was coloured in using normal felt-tips (with a few gel-pen doodles), before being covered with strips of paper from a Mandarin poetry book. I redefined the watermelon and coloured those areas with Prismacolor pencils. Finally, I added a gel-pen quote and border (quote reads "Ah, summer, what power you have to make us suffer and like it")

I started my second spread with a quick sketch - using two felt-tips I drew a picnic blanket kind of pattern before blending with a waterbrush. I coloured the flower (and dots) with Papermania Watercolour Markers and an orange Sakura Souffle pen. The ants were hand-doodled with a simple black pen, and the quote was added using Tipex (and outlined using a PITT pen).

These images are such fun to work with, I had a fight with the printer which made me late!
